College Preparation and Selection

• Plan and execute resume-building activities, including High School course selections, clubs, summer educational camps, employment, and volunteer/service opportunities. 

• Research and assist in applying to summer programs that match students'’ interests. 

• Provide access to a career assessment exam to determine college major and career interests. Use this as a guide to begin researching majors and colleges. 

• Plan standardized test prep, and best testing dates, and compare ACT vs. SAT vs. Test-Optional

• Advise and analyze college/university choice options based on major, location, size, and academic selectiveness. Provide a recommended college list to begin research.

• Provide access to Keystone Custom College Plan (CCP) online platform. Each family/student will use this for researching schools. You will have access to relevant information at your fingertips: acceptance criteria, size, location, estimated costs, accepted student profile, type of application, essay questions, scholarship information, deadlines, and application process.

College Tour Planning

• How to research online to save time and choose the schools that you should visit.  

• Shortcut links to each college major and interests customized for each student. 

• Advice on how to make the most of your college visits.

• Advice on planning college tour trips  - how to schedule and sequencing list of schools to see.  Include advice on registering for visits, extra in-depth meetings on campus, gathering campus culture information and questions to ask while on campus. 

The College Application Process

• Assist in the creation of a college application style student resume.

• Identify the best ‘Teacher Letter of Recommendation’ for your major and how to request the most impacting letters.

• Brainstorming session for essay writing to create impactful main essays.

• Finalize the college list to include a balanced of Safety, Fit and Reach schools.

• Research and provide a list of the required essay questions for all of your selected colleges.

• Provide an organized plan for creating all supplemental essays and applications to be completed by deadlines.

• Follow up and review every essay draft through to final version. Including the main essay, supplemental essays, and scholarship essays.

• Explain the application process and requirements for each school and assist in tracking and walking the student through the entire process.

• Proofread every application prior to submission.

• Maximize college scholarship eligibility throughout the application process. Identify all requirements to be considered for those scholarships. 

• Continuous follow-up directly with the student and parent throughout the process.

• Explain the Financial-Need process and terminology. (Although I am not a financial advisor) 

• Provide links to FAFSA, CSS Profile for October 1 filing for financial aid.

• Guidance through a wait-list situation if needed.
